Infant/Toddler Center

Picture
The Infant/Toddler Center is the building located nearest the largest parking lot of the school.  This small home-like setting is for the infants and toddlers who are 2 years and younger.  We have 12 children at a time with a staff ratio of 3 or 4 to one depending on the time of the day.  We provide a warm, safe and trusting environment filled with loving staff and a stimulating environment to ease the very young in separating from Mother, Father or other family member and feeling safe in their new environment.

The center features a clean and colorful inside area, kitchen and nap room, as well as two wonderful yards with grassy areas, bike path and sand box.  We spend a great deal of time outdoors encouraging even the youngest to explore their world.

Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:30 p.m.  We provide flexible scheduling providing families the opportunity to choose the hours that work best for them and their child.  The schedule choices include:  full day, hourly enrolled and drop in.  We bill by the hour and all bills are due and payable in full weekly.  We do our very best to help families work out a weekly schedule both to minimize separation and facilitate a parent's work schedule.  We work together towards a regular routine for baby which provides a consistency of care givers, friends and loved ones.  We believe that it is with this kind of consistency that very young children develop a sense of trust and attachment to their caregivers, an important part of growing into a competent, secure person able to develop and sustain secure and strong relationships in the future.

We do not have a daily schedule that runs by the clock but we do establish a daily routine of activities that best fits the needs of the children present. The youngest are held and cuddled much of the day and nap whenever necessary. We warm bottles in a microwave unless otherwise instructed.  (Breast milk is warmed with warm water.)  We encourage parents to bring plenty of extra clothing for the day and take it home at the end of your child's day.....we are a busy group!

Once a child is well into solid foods, we provide two snacks a day.  All other meals are provided by parents.  Please bring only food your child can eat in one day.  We do not have the room to store extra food.  Bottles must be pre-filled and labeled with your child's name.  Food may be warmed in a microwave and served to children sitting in low chairs around low tables in a manner which encourages  social interaction and a sense of community.  Older toddlers may occasionally eat outdoors picnic style.  Be sure to put your child's name on all containers.  Donations of other non-perishable food stuffs for our earthquake kit are gladly accepted.

  • Please label all clothing, shoes, bottles, diaper bags, pacifiers, etc. with your child's name.
  • Please bring extra clothes and shoes as the weather changes frequently and we spend lots of time outside getting dirty.  Put your child's name on label with permanent marking pen.
  • As children reach 2-2 1/2 years old we will work with parents on potty training.
  • EACH MONTH bring enough diapers and wipes to last for that month.
  • Bring your child's food for the DAY in labeled containers.
  • Although we prefer formula bottles to be pre mixed,  we will mix formula if that seems more appropriate. Label all supplies with name.
  • All children must be signed in and out every day.  This is required by law.  Children will not be released to anyone not on the emergency list unless notified by a parent.  Photo ID will be required when a new authorized person comes for the first few times.  All pick up people are entered into our system through their fingerprint.
  • Please lock all gates at all times behind you as you come and go!
